78 New Flights to Europe, New York, the Maldives, and Colombo Are Added by Air India
Due to the continued high demand for travel, Air India is adding 78 new flights to Europe, New York, the Maldives, and Colombo from March 10–18, 2026, providing 17,660 more seats.
Due to the situation in West Asia, airlines have recently adjusted their operations, placing strain on travel routes between Asia, Europe, and North America. Air India is providing additional capacity because there are fewer options available and demand is still high.
Between March 10 and 18, 2026, the airline has announced 78 more foreign flights that will link India with important gateways in Europe, the US, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka.
This change provides much-needed flexibility for travelers attempting to find seats during a limited travel window.
The goal of additional flights is to alleviate capacity constraints.
The new services will run on nine foreign routes, including major hubs in Europe and New York's John F. Kennedy foreign Airport, according to a press statement from Air India.
Among the routes are:
Delhi to London Heathrow Delhi to New York (JFK)
London Heathrow to Mumbai
Delhi to Frankfurt Delhi to Charles de Gaulle in Paris Delhi to Amsterdam Delhi to Zurich Delhi to Malé Delhi to Colombo
The additional flights will add 17,660 tickets to the market in both directions.
Despite operational difficulties, Air India is still maintaining connections with North America and Europe, according to Chief Commercial Officer Nipun Aggarwal.
Alternative routes that are deemed safe for operations are now being used by airlines. Keeping travelers on the move while there are few other options is the straightforward objective.
Aircraft Employed on These Routes
Depending on the route, different aircraft will provide these extra services:
Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner for flights around Europe
For Malé and Colombo, an Airbus A320neo
Boeing 777-300ER for flights to New York
Before operating, flights to New York are still subject to regulatory authorization.
