After repairing its web portal, Mozambique has reintroduced its necessary Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for travelers who are not required to have a visa. Those with Indian passports need to keep applying for an eVisa.
After months of technical difficulties, Mozambique has reinstated its Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) requirement for visitors from 29 countries that do not require a visa. Starting on July 31, 2026, qualified travelers will once more need to obtain an ETA in order to board a trip to the nation.
Initially implemented in April 2025, the ETA requirement was halted a few weeks later due to issues with the online application system. The updated system is now fully functional, according to authorities.
Who Needs to Apply for the ETA?
Only nationals of 29 nations who are eligible for visa-free entry for brief business and leisure trips are covered by the ETA. Among them are tourists from:
China, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Senegal, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom Canada and the United States
Traditional visas are no longer required for these travelers, although they still need to get an ETA at least 48 hours prior to departure.
Differentiating Between ETA and eVisa
Both systems are currently run by Mozambique via a single web interface.
ETA: For travelers from the 29 nations that do not require a visa. This is good for a single admission and a maximum stay of thirty days. roughly $48 USD.
Travelers from all other countries, including India, must have an eVisa. Stays of thirty to ninety days are possible, depending on the type of visa.

The New Digital Visa Platform in Mozambique
With technical assistance from VFS Global, Mozambique replaced the previous system that caused the ETA suspension in February 2026 with a new cloud-based visa platform.
