Air India Express announces six new domestic routes: full schedule and cities.
Air India Express is expanding its domestic network with six new destinations beginning September 1, including direct flights between regional cities and major hubs such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad.
Air India Express will add six internal routes to its network beginning September 1, providing Indian travelers more direct options to areas that previously required a transfer.
The new stations are Aurangabad, Coimbatore, Jamnagar, Jodhpur, Madurai, and Tirupati. The airline now covers 48 domestic and 64 total destinations, including international flights.
New Air India Express Routes Starting September 1
The new services focus on Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad, making them especially handy for travelers coming from big Indian cities.
This is particularly advantageous for travelers from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad: multiple smaller cities may now be accessed without passing through another big airport.
Extra flights on existing routes.
Air India Express will also add frequency from Delhi to Bhubaneswar, Kochi, Patna, and Varanasi from September 1. Delhi-Bhubaneswar and Delhi-Patna will have four daily flights, while Delhi-Kochi and Delhi-Varanasi will have two every day.
For Indian travelers, the larger trend is clear: airlines are increasingly employing metro airports as feeders into regional business, tourism, and pilgrimage markets, rather than focusing solely on trunk routes.
What This Means for Travelers.
The additions should be especially beneficial for short domestic travels to Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh, where a direct flight might save several hours over a metro-city connection.
Jodhpur now has daily connections to both Delhi and Mumbai, while Tirupati has a direct connection to Hyderabad. For leisure and pilgrimage travelers, these are practical enhancements rather than mere network extension on paper.
Travunited Take:
We believe that these routes are actually valuable for Indian travelers, particularly regional fliers. Direct routes to Jodhpur, Tirupati, Madurai, and Jamnagar should save time and facilitate short journeys.
