The paper arrival card is finally being phased out in Australia. The government has started implementing the Australia Travel Declaration, a digital arrival document that will eventually take the place of the well-known orange Incoming Passenger Card at seaports and international airports.
In the upcoming months, there will be less paperwork for foreign nationals traveling to Australia. However, unless they are invited to participate in the trial program, the majority of travelers will still need to fill out the paper form.
The digital rollout is underway, with a nationwide expansion planned.
On July 13, 2026, the Australian government unveiled the new system, which is supported by a four-year investment of A$56.1 million to modernize border processing.
