Government Decrees Support New Regulations

The Chadian government's new immigration regulations include the online visa rollout under:

Decree No. 2299/PR/PM/MSPI/2025

Joint Order 033/PR/PMFBEPC/MSPI/2026

The government claims that the e-Visa system is designed to expedite and streamline the visa application process while protecting traveler data.

Additionally, authorities confirmed that passengers could get either:

Visas for a single entry

Visas with several entries

The type of visa and the requirements for approval will determine this.

Diplomatic Visas Are Still Managed Differently

Not all visa categories will be available online.

Chadian embassies and diplomatic missions overseas will continue to handle diplomatic and courtesy visas. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chad continues to have jurisdiction over these applications.

However, the e-Visa portal will now serve as the primary entry point for business travelers, regular tourists, and the majority of foreign visitors.

Crucial Deadline: May 21, 2026

A brief transition phase has also been instituted by Chadian authorities. Visas issued prior to the implementation of the online-only system will be valid until their expiration date. There is one crucial caution for travelers, though.

Any visa issued outside of the official evisa.td portal will no longer be accepted for admission into Chad after May 21, 2026.

Additionally, the government verified that authorizations for manual admission have been permanently revoked.

This means that after the deadline, travelers should refrain from using out-of-date processes or unofficial visa routes.
