Indian Wait Times for US Visas: B1/B2 Appointments Take a maximum of twelve months.
Indian wait times for US visas are still lengthy; in Hyderabad, B1/B2 appointments might take up to a year. View the most recent waits in India.
For B1/B2 visitor visas, there are still lengthy wait times in India; candidates in Hyderabad may have to wait up to 12 months for the next scheduled interview.
According to the most recent data from the US Department of State, waiting times for Indian applicants seeking a US visiting visa vary greatly depending on where they apply.
At 12 months, Hyderabad has the longest B1/B2 delay, followed by Mumbai at 11.5 months and New Delhi at 10 months. Wait times in Kolkata and Chennai are shorter, at 6.5 months and 7.5 months, respectively.
The Longest Wait for a B1/B2 Visitor Visa
The B1/B2 visa category continues to be the largest obstacle for Indian visitors and business travelers.
Currently, a candidate scheduling a fresh interview in Hyderabad may have to wait a full year for the next open time slot. New Delhi has a 10-month wait, while Mumbai is not far behind at 11.5 months.
Kolkata has the lowest B1/B2 wait of the five positions, at 6.5 months, while Chennai offers the next open job in about 7.5 months.
This makes early visa planning especially crucial for anyone organizing a vacation, family visit, or business travel to the United States.
Appointments for student visas are much quicker.
The circumstances for applicants seeking student and exchange guest visas are quite different.
Applicants for F, M, and J visas can now schedule appointments in Chennai in less than six months. New Delhi and Kolkata have a wait time of two months, while Hyderabad has a wait time of 1.5 months.
At 2.5 months, Mumbai has the longest wait in this category.
There is a noticeable difference. While some applicants for student visas can get an interview in a matter of weeks, visitors may have to wait over a year.
Wait Times for Work Visas
Although Hyderabad is still an anomaly, petition-based H, L, O, P, and Q visa applicants also have lower wait times than the majority of B1/B2 applicants.
It is anticipated that the next open appointment will be in Hyderabad in 5.5 months, followed by New Delhi in 3 months.
At one month, Kolkata has the shortest wait time, while Chennai and Mumbai have wait times of 1.5 months apiece.

Is It Possible to Schedule an Early US Visa Appointment?
Indeed. Instead than having set appointment dates, the mentioned wait times are approximations.
Additional appointment spaces are periodically released by embassies and consulates, according to the US Department of State. If a new time slot opens up, applicants who already have an interview planned can check the appointment system and change it to an earlier date.
For Indian applicants who must wait in lengthy B1/B2 lines, this is very crucial. The applicant may not have to wait the entire published period if they make a reservation now.
Additionally, the State Department makes a distinction between the next available appointment and the average wait time. While the next-available statistic approximates the current wait for a new application, the average shows how long applicants regularly waited from fee payment to their interview during the preceding month.
These published numbers do not include appointments that waive interviews.
What Indian Travelers Need to Do
Don't wait to begin the visa application procedure if you are planning a trip to the United States from India until you have reserved flights and lodging.
When selecting the location of your appointment, check all five US consular posts. Once you've made your reservation, keep checking the scheduling system. As consulates expand their capacity, more spaces may become available.
The situation may alter between the time you submit your application and the day of your interview because the wait-time statistics are updated on a regular basis.
