IndiGo raises add-on charges, including new infant, baggage, and priority fees. From September 2026.
IndiGo has increased many add-on prices, including infant, excess luggage, unaccompanied child, priority boarding, and travel certificate fees.
IndiGo, India's largest airline, recently increased fees for various add-on services, which means passengers may now pay extra even if the basic fare remains unchanged. The revised fees apply to baby travel, extra baggage, unaccompanied minors, priority services, and travel certificates.
The modifications went into effect on September 17, 2026, and will mostly affect families, passengers with additional luggage, and travelers who routinely pay for priority airport services.IndiGo baggage allowance (hand and checked)
What has become more expensive?
IndiGo has raised the newborn cost for children aged 0-2 years from ₹2,000 to ₹3,000, representing a ₹1,000 increase.
The extra baggage cost has increased from ₹700 to ₹800 per kilogram. A customer weighing 5 kg over than the legal allowance would pay ₹4,000 instead of ₹3,500, adding ₹500 to the voyage cost.
The domestic charge for unaccompanied minors has increased from ₹5,000 to ₹5,999. The revised foreign travel charge is ₹12,999.
Travel certificates now cost ₹300, up from ₹200 previously.Customs officer at KIA under CBI scanner IndiGo passengers should check the final fares.
The increased prices will not effect all passengers. They primarily apply to travelers who utilize these supplementary services.
However, the growth is readily apparent to Indian households. A customer traveling with a child and carrying excess baggage may incur many additional charges on the same reservation.
The bigger pattern is clear: low-cost airlines continue to keep headline fares reasonable while charging extra for services that many consumers may require. When comparing IndiGo ticket rates, the basic fee does not always reflect the total cost.Priority Boarding in 2026: Status Symbol or Sanity Upgrade?
How To Avoid Extra IndiGo Charges
Check your baggage allowance before leaving.
If you're about to reach your luggage restriction, weigh it at home.
Compare the cost of additional luggage during booking to airport fees.
Families traveling with infants should verify the most recent infant fee before paying.
Passengers using priority services should confirm whether the price is for the entire journey or by sector.
Before booking an IndiGo flight, check the final fare breakdown.

Travunited Take:
We believe that these increases are tolerable on their own, but when combined, they can quickly boost travel expenditures. Before booking, I recommend comparing the whole ticket, especially for families and journeys with a lot of luggage.
