A destination's popularity is not the only factor considered in the ranking. The TTDI assesses the circumstances that promote the sustainable and resilient development of travel and tourism, such as infrastructure, connectivity, safety, openness, cultural and natural resources, and tourist services.
For tourists, Japan's first-place ranking underlines its status as a well-developed tourism destination, while India's climb emphasizes the country's expanding potential in heritage tourism, cultural experiences, nature travel, and business tourism.
