Oman Offers a Free 14-Day Tourist Visa with the New Choice to Extend Your Stay
For qualified tourists, Oman now offers a complimentary 14-day tourist visa and permits them to transfer to a different tourist visa before it expires. This list includes qualified Indian travelers as well.
Oman's immigration regulations have been revised to include a free 14-day tourist visa for qualified foreign visitors as well as additional freedom for those who choose to remain longer.
The Foreigners' Residence Law's updated Executive Regulations allow qualified travelers to change their short-stay visa into a different type of tourist visa before it expires, as long as they fulfill the necessary requirements and pay the relevant fees.
One of the major inconveniences for tourists who frequently combine Oman with excursions to the UAE or Qatar is eliminated by the change: having to leave the country just because vacation plans altered.
Who Is Eligible for a Free 14-Day Tourist Visa?
Nationals of nations covered by Oman's visa exemption regulations are eligible for the free visa. Indian passport holders are also qualified, but only if they fulfill certain requirements.
In order to be eligible, Indian tourists must:
Possess a passport that is at least six months old.
Have a hotel reservation that is confirmed.
Bring a ticket for the trip back or forward.
Possess up-to-date health insurance for vacation.
Provide enough money to cover their stay.
Hold one of these:
A valid residency permit or visa for the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, or a Schengen nation, or residency in a GCC nation under qualified occupations.
Before departing, travelers who do not match these conditions must continue applying for the relevant Oman eVisa.
What's Changed?
The 14-day free entrance was once a set, brief stay with very little flexibility. Instead of being compelled to depart right away, travelers can now seek to transfer to another tourist visa category before their free visa expires under the new regulations. Oman's immigration laws and the associated visa costs apply to the conversion.
This reflects a broader trend in the Gulf, where governments are loosening tourism regulations without doing away with immigration controls completely.

Oman has become an easy short-break option for Indians, thanks to direct flights from cities such Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi and Lucknow to Muscat and Salalah.
The new guidelines make it easier for qualified visitors to prolong their trips if they wish to spend more time exploring areas such as Muscat, Jebel Akhdar, Nizwa, or the Dhofar region, without having to interrupt their trip by leaving the country.
