Passport and visa services in Kuwait are restricted by India till July 19. Only in Emergency Situations
Until July 19, 2026, India has temporarily limited passport, visa, and consular services in Kuwait. Find out who is impacted and which emergency services are still available.
The Indian Embassy declared that only emergency applications will be accepted until Sunday, July 19, 2026, resulting in temporary limits on passport, visa, and consular services for Indian nationals in Kuwait.
The temporary agreement was made for administrative reasons, according to the embassy. Your application will be delayed if you intend to renew your passport, apply for a standard visa, or finish document attestation.
There are only emergency consular services available.
Applicants must submit documentation demonstrating the urgency of their request during this time. Only a small number of emergency services will be handled by the embassy, such as:
Applications for Tatkal passports
NRI certifications
Passports with a brief validity period for candidates whose Civil ID
Validity is about to expire.
Certificates of Emergency
Electronic Visas
Until further notice, regular visa services, document attestations, and passport applications will not be accepted or processed.
Applications are not accepted in Indian Consular Application Centers.
Additionally, no Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) in Kuwait will accept applications during the restricted period, according to the Indian Embassy.
Candidates with urgent cases must come to the Embassy's Consular Wing between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM with supporting documentation that unequivocally demonstrates the emergency.
What This Means for Kuwaiti Indians
Thousands of Indian expats, workers, students, and families residing in Kuwait are impacted by the advice. Anyone planning a trip that involves renewing their passport, obtaining a visa, or attesting documents should carefully consider their itinerary and put off non essential applications until services are restored.
This serves as another warning that whenever operational interruptions occur, diplomatic missions are increasingly giving priority to emergency cases, temporarily suspending ordinary services.
Applicants are advised by the Embassy to keep up with official updates.
More details will be released later, according to the Embassy. For the most recent information, applicants are recommended to rely solely on the official channels of communication and social media accounts of the Indian Embassy in Kuwait.
Travunited Take
If you take action early, we think this temporary restriction is manageable. For passport renewals or attestation, I would not wait until the last minute, particularly if travel abroad is scheduled after July 19.
