The Indian Embassy in the UAE now offers walk-in passport services to Tatkal, newborn, emergency, senior citizen, and other qualifying applicants at 16 ICAC locations.
Indian passport holders in the UAE can now use walk-in services for some passport cases at all 16 Indian Consular Application Centers (ICACs) without having to schedule an online appointment.
On August 16, the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi announced that eligible applicants could visit ICACs between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Who Can Use the Walk-In Center?
The facility is open to five types of applicants:
Tatkal Passport Applications
Newborn passport cases
Emergency Certificate (EC) Applications
Senior persons aged 60 and up.
People with determination
Applicants in these categories can still schedule appointments online if they prefer.

Online appointments are still recommended.
Those with prior appointments will be served in accordance with their assigned time windows. Walk-in candidates, on the other hand, would be accommodated solely to the extent of available capacity at the relevant center.
The embassy encourages eligible candidates to make appointments online whenever possible, especially to prevent long wait times.
The change provides a valuable second option for Indian travelers and residents who need a passport quickly. The overall trend is clear: Indian missions are increasingly mixing appointment systems with limited walk-in access for cases requiring urgency or accessibility.Why is this change happening now?
The walk-in facility comes as Indian consular services in the UAE transition to a new outsourcing provider, Al Hind Tours & Travels, which will take over passport, visa, and attestation services in July 2026.
Several centers experienced high demand and appointment pressure as a result of the transition. The new walk-in option is intended to alleviate this burden, notably for Tatkal applicants, babies, senior persons, Emergency Certificate cases, and people with determination.
To avoid lineups and unclear waiting times, most applicants still prefer to arrange an appointment.

What Indian Candidates Should Know
The walk-in facility is accessible at all 16 ICACs run by Al Hind Tours & Travels in the UAE. However, walk-in service does not guaranty immediate assistance. Availability is determined by the number of slots available at the center on the day you visit.
