Turkmenistan will issue e-Visas beginning October 1, 2026, eliminating the need for a tourist invitation letter. Check the processing times, documentation, and most recent portal update.
Turkmenistan has finally opened its new e-Visa system, making it easier for foreign travellers to apply for entry without going through the country’s traditional invitation-letter process.
The electronic visa system officially launched on October 1, 2026. For tourist applicants, the biggest change is clear: the mandatory invitation letter is no longer listed as a requirement for the new tourist e-Visa.

The new system provides three processing choices.
Regular: seven business days.
Urgent: three business days.
Super urgent: 24 hours.
The government has not yet released a fixed fee schedule. Visa fees are calculated during the online application process and must be paid in US dollars.
For Indian travelers, this is a significant practical improvement. The previous invitation-based procedure required an additional step before a tourist visa application could be processed.Vize Randevusu Nasıl Alınır? 2026 VFS Global, iDATA, Kosmos, BLS Rehberi | Vize Rehberi | E-Kolay VizeWhat Indian Travelers Should Know
The e-Visa portal is offered in English, Russian, and Turkmen. Applicants are asked to submit documentation, pay, and track their applications online.
However, there is one immediate catch.
The portal now contains a login page but no obvious option for creating a new account. That implies the system is theoretically operational, but new candidates may not be able to begin an application from beginning.
This is common of freshly released government visa portals: the policy may be complete before the digital gear is fully operating.
Turkmenistan has also set up a separate online portal for registering foreign nationals during their stay. That service differs from the e-Visa system.Turkmenistan to Implement Simplified Visa Application Procedures - Caspianpost.comTravunited Take:
We regard Turkmenistan's e-Visa as a positive move for Indian travelers, however the lack of a registration option means we would wait before making final trip plans around it.
