Until 2027, India provides Thai travelers with a free 30-day double-entry e-tourist visa.
Thai visitors can now obtain India's 30-day double-entry e-Tourist visa free of charge until December 31, 2027, making short and multi-country journeys to India easier.
Thai passport holders can now apply for a 30-day Indian e-Tourist visa with multiple entry without having to pay a visa cost, according to a new agreement announced by the Embassy of India in Bangkok.
The facility will stay operational until December 31, 2027, unless the Indian government alters or withdraws it sooner. Importantly, this is not a visa-free entry. Thai travelers must still apply for and acquire an authorized e-Visa before traveling to India.Emerging and Young Entrepreneur of the Northeast India's Visit to Thailand 17 – 21 July 2023 - สถานเอกอัครราชทูตไทย ณ กรุงนิวเดลี
What is India's 30-day e-Tourist Visa?
India's e-Tourist visa is an electronic travel authorization for eligible foreign nationals visiting for tourism, sightseeing, or to see friends and relatives. Travelers apply online, obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) via email, then show the approved ETA at an Indian immigration checkpoint.
The basic 30-day e-Tourist visa is valid for 30 days after the initial arrival in India. Under current general e-Visa requirements, the 30-day category often allows for repeated entries, however the special Thai arrangement specifically allows for double admission.Delhi | Benjamuna's Blog
How does the double-entry facility operate?
The new arrangement permits Thai travelers to enter India twice during the 30-day validity period of their visa.
For example, a traveler could enter India, leave for a short excursion, and then return for a second visit, as long as both entries are within the visa's validity period.
This is especially handy for those who want to combine their visit to India with another destination in the region rather than staying in one place for the entire trip.

How does it vary from a regular Indian e-Tourist visa?
The key distinction is the visa price and the special entrance conditions provided to Thai passport holders.
Thai special arrangement: 30-day e-Tourist visa with multiple entry and no visa charge.
Normal e-Tourist visa fees vary by nationality and season; other 30-day e-Tourist visas are typically given under standard e-Visa criteria.
Both require an online application and pre-approval.
The Thai facility is only available to Thai nationals and is now valid until December 31, 2027.
Applicants should apply through India's official e-Visa portal at least four days before their arrival. A passport valid for at least six months and with two blank pages is required, as well as a return or onward ticket.Brand new Indian e passport
Why does this matter for Thai travelers?
The benefit is straightforward: lower costs and greater flexibility for short India vacations.
A Thai tourist can visit destinations such as Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, or Mumbai, leave India for another country, then return for the second half of the vacation without needing to file for another Indian tourist visa, as long as the two entries are within the allowed validity.
India and Thailand have also been evolving in the similar approach about tourism access. Thailand will enable Indian regular passport holders visa-free tourist stays of up to 30 days from September 15, 2026, making the Indian fee waiver an important reciprocal move.
The pattern is clear: both countries are lowering visa barriers as air connectivity and leisure travel between India and Thailand grow.

We see this as a practical benefit for Thai tourists, particularly those planning multi-country trips. The free visa eliminates costs, but double entrance provides valuable flexibility.
