Vietnam Extends the Digital Arrival Card System to Airports in Da Nang and Hanoi

Vietnam Extends the Digital Arrival Card System to Airports in Da Nang and Hanoi

Hanoi and Da Nang are now covered by Vietnam's online arrival card system, which assists travelers in completing entrance requirements prior to arriving.

Taking a plane to Vietnam? Before boarding your aircraft, you can now finish a portion of the arrival process. Vietnam's online Pre-Arrival Information (PAI) system, which is now in use in Ho Chi Minh City and Phu Quoc, has been extended to include arrivals at Hanoi and Da Nang, two of the nation's major international gateways.

Up to three days before to arrival, foreign visitors can submit their personal and travel information online via Vietnam's immigration portal using the Pre-Arrival Information (PAI). After completing the process, travelers are given a QR code that can be printed for presentation at immigration if needed, or kept on a phone. There are now four major airports.

Travelers arriving at the following locations can now use Vitenam's Digital Arrival Card, also called Pre-Arrival Information (PAI):
Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City
International Airport at Phu Quoc
Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi

International Airport in Da Nang
In April 2026, Vietnam first introduced the system at the airport in Ho Chi Minh City before progressively expanding it to other entrance ports. The digital arrival card and Vietnam's e-Visa system should not be confused by tourists.

The PAI software does not handle visa applications; it merely gathers arrival data. Indian passport holders still need to fulfill Vietnam's standard entrance requirements, which may include getting a visa if necessary.

Depending on the reason and length of their visit, travelers should keep verifying if they are eligible for visa-free entry, require an e-Visa, or need to go through a different entrance procedure.

How the System Operates
After arriving in Vietnam, visitors have three days to submit their information online. The technology creates a QR code after the form is completed, which can be printed or stored digitally for use throughout arrival processes. What Indian Travelers Should Know

The upgrade may reduce immigration wait times for Indian tourists traveling to Vietnam from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and other major cities, particularly during holidays when aircraft arrive in large numbers.

Instead of filling out details after arriving, the technology enables travelers to input trip information before to departure. If necessary, the QR code can then be shown during arrival procedures.

This is in keeping with a broader trend in Asia, where immigration officials are moving more and more documentation online before travelers ever board their aircraft.

We consider this to be a useful improvement for Indian tourists. Although it won't take the place of Vietnam's visa application process, spending a few minutes online prior to departure may reduce the amount of time spent in immigration lines upon arrival.
