Phuentsholing (Arrival)
Get to the Indo-Bhutan border at Phuentsholing after arriving at the Bagdogra airport or NJP railway station. Process the route permit when you get to Phuentsholing, and then spend the evening taking a leisurely walk around the market. Phuentsholing for dinner and the night. (D)
Phuentsholing - Thimphu (165 kms / 5 hrs)
Check out after breakfast. After completing the immigration process, drive five to six hours to Thimphu. While traveling, stop in villages and picturesque locations to view the Rinchending Monastery. Check into the hotel when you get to Thimphu. Explore the capital city on foot by stopping at the Clock Tower Square area and the Bhutanese Crafts market. Thimphu for dinner and the night. (B, D)
Thimphu
Take a full-day tour of the city's landmarks and cultural sites after breakfast. An aerial picture of the capital, its suburbs, and Tashichho Dzong can be obtained by taking a quick drive to a viewpoint. Other attractions include the Farmer's Market, Simtokha Dzong, Druk Wangyal Lhakhang, Changangkha Monastery, and the Textile Museum. Dinner and the night in Thimphu (B, D)
Thimphu - Punakha/Wangdue (85 kms / 2-3 hrs)
Drive to Punakha along the breathtaking Dochula Road and ascend to Dochula Pass after breakfast. Punakha-Wangdue Valley has a subtropical climate and is lower (approximately 1450 meters above sea level). After seeing Richengang village, which is notable for its collection of interconnected houses, take a quick stroll to Chimi Lhakhang temple, which is devoted to Lama Drukpa Kunley. Make a stop in the Punakha township in Khuruthang on your way to the hotel. Punakha for dinner and the night. (B, D)
Punakha - Paro (130 kms / 3-4 hrs)
Drive a little way through the picturesque countryside after breakfast, then walk a short distance upwards to Khamsum Chorten on Nyenzangang Hill. Retrace the Dochula Pass on the way back to Thimphu. Drive a short distance to Paro after descending into Thimphu. Visiting Rinpung Dzong, the National Museum, the temples of Kichu and Dungtse, local residences, and taking a walk about the township are some of Paro's most well-liked attractions. Paro Valley (Taktsang Hike)
Drive to the trailhead and trek to the well-known Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) monastery after breakfast. For the uphill portion up to the first viewpoint and cafeteria, you can also rent a pony; however, you must be able to walk back downwards. Go back to Paro so you have more time to have a walk about the city. Paro for dinner and the night. (B, D)
Paro - Phuentsholing (160 kms / 5 hrs)
Drive back to Phuentsholing after breakfast. Arrive, check in, and spend the evening at your leisure. Phuentsholing for dinner and the night. (B, D)
Phuentsholing - Bagdogra (Departure) (154 kms / 4 hrs)
For your return trip, transfer to the NJP train station or Bagdogra Airport. (B)
